MID-AUTUMN BLOCK PARTY

Mid-Autumn Block Party: A Celebration of AAPI Resilience, Heritage, and Collective Joy

On a crisp September weekend, the heart of Brooklyn lit up with the spirit of Chinatown. Hosted at Hana House, Chinatown Social’s Mid-Autumn Block Party 2024 welcomed over 3,000 guests to celebrate community, culture, and the strength of the AAPI collective.

The Mid-Autumn Festival has always been a time for reunion, reflection, and gratitude — and this year, we carried that tradition forward in a new way. With over 40 AAPI small business vendors, lion dance performances, live rappers, DJs, and a full slate of cultural experiences, the Block Party wasn't just an event — it was a statement of who we are and what we can build together.

Guests roamed through a dynamic market experience, discovering artists, streetwear brands, handmade goods, and food vendors, all representing the diversity and creativity within our community. Every vendor was given a free platform — no booth fees — ensuring that cost was never a barrier to participation.

To deepen the connection, we introduced the Mid-Autumn Passport Game, encouraging guests to explore every corner of the marketplace. As they collected stamps from each room, they engaged more meaningfully with vendors and earned a chance to spin our custom Prize Wheel for exclusive prizes.

The energy was made possible through the support of our generous sponsors, including Blue Ocean Property Group, LIS Technologies Inc., Welcome to Chinatown, Asian Jade Society, Pickle Guys, Manhattan Bridge Orthodontist, and MKC Threads. Beverage partners like Lunar Hard Seltzer, Topo Chico, and Sanzo kept the celebration refreshed, while Lee Kum Kee shared a taste of home with beloved sauces and flavors.

We were proud to collaborate with creatives like Moments in Clarity, 12Pell, and Grand Exposure Booth, adding layers of visual storytelling and connection throughout the space.

When the day rolled into night, the celebration didn't end. Our official afterparty, DREAMDRIVER: COLLISION COURSE, turned Hana House into a nighttime festival — blending hip-hop, street art, and community vibes until the early hours.

More than just a festival, the Mid-Autumn Block Party was a reflection of the power of gathering.
It was a reminder that Chinatown lives within us — whether in Manhattan, Brooklyn, or beyond — and that when we come together, we carry forward our heritage, our pride, and our collective future.

Thank you to everyone who made it possible. This is the energy we’ll keep building — one gathering, one collaboration, one celebration at a time.
